· Greek quarries from the 4th century BC: used to extract the tuff with which the city’s first buildings were constructed
· Roman aqueducts: that guaranteed water supply to the city
· Medieval cisterns: used until the 19th century
· World War II air raid shelters: that housed thousands of Neapolitans during the bombings
