⛪ Piazza del Gesù Nuovo and the Santa Chiara Complex (1 minute)
Exiting our portal and turning left, you immediately find yourself in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo. The diamond-point facade of the Gesù Nuovo Church is unique in its kind and, according to some legends, hides esoteric symbols and a musical score in Aramaic .
Crossing the square, you reach the Monumental Complex of Santa Chiara, with its magnificent Majolica Cloister, an oasis of peace and beauty decorated with 18th-century majolica tiles depicting scenes of daily life and allegories .
🕯️ Piazza San Domenico Maggiore and the Cell of St. Thomas (1 minute)
Retracing your steps and turning right, you arrive at Piazza San Domenico Maggiore. Here stands the church of the same name, which houses the tombs of the Aragonese kings and the cell where St. Thomas Aquinas lived in the 13th century . It is said that his spirit still studies in the convent’s rooms .
🎭 Sansevero Chapel and the Veiled Christ (7 minutes)
Continuing along Spaccanapoli, you reach the Sansevero Chapel, one of the most mysterious and fascinating places in Naples. Here is kept the world masterpiece of the Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sanmartino, a sculpture of extraordinary realism that legend says was created through an alchemical process by Prince Raimondo di Sangro .
In the chapel’s crypt are the Anatomical Machines, two human skeletons with intact circulatory systems, whose preservation method remains a mystery to this day .
🕍 Naples Cathedral and the Miracle of San Gennaro (10 minutes)
Continuing your itinerary, you reach Naples Cathedral (Duomo), dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. Here is preserved the Treasure of San Gennaro, with the famous vials of the saint’s blood that liquefies three times a year, in a miracle followed with trepidation by the entire city . Beneath the Duomo lies the Basilica of Santa Restituta, the oldest early Christian church in Naples, dating back to the 4th century .

Right next to the Duomo, in the small square of Pio Monte della Misericordia, stands the Quadreria of Pio Monte della Misericordia, which exhibits the famous painting by Caravaggio, The Seven Works of Mercy, a 17th-century masterpiece representing one of the pinnacles of Western art .

From Piazza San Gaetano, a few steps from the Duomo, you can access Naples Underground, a labyrinth of Greek-Roman tunnels stretching 40 meters beneath the city.
